Video Transcript for Review of Jif Marine Dock Accessories - Floating Dock Ladder - JIF79FR

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the Jif floating lift ladder. This is going to be for your floating docks. So it's going to give you a really nice way to get in and out of the water once you're done swimming. The thing that I like about this is that it has pretty high handles that make it really easy to pull yourself up and out of the water onto that floating deck and make sure that you can get in and out easily. Also, as you're coming down on these, it gives you kind of a nice purchase to turn around and go into the water.

So they should be really sturdy, very durable. They're made of anodized aluminum construction so you shouldn't have to worry about rust ever with these guys, really easy to operate. I'll show you that pretty quickly here.So we'll get to the wider view so you can actually see what I'm doing here. We'll have our steps that just lift onto the different spots. So there's going to be several different sizes that this is available, and this is the three-step version.

They're all going to work the same way. And I'll give you a whole bunch of measurements to make sure that you can find the one that you like. But as far as how to get the steps out of the water when you're not using them, as the name suggests you just lift them up and then there's kind of like a little ledge might be hard to see but there's a little ledge that the steps will hook into and that will hold them in place. So it's a little bit easier where should coming down on top of it rather than doing it from the side, but it just kind of have to get the step in the groove. So there's two of those little guys. If I take it down again, it might be easier to see that.

So here's the ledge that the edge of our steps is going to sit on. So that pulls it up by about 12 inches and you'll have kind of a limit on the range of the step. You can see there's some little tabs here just to make sure that it doesn't come all the way off. There's two on one side and one on the other, so it can make it easier to get this in and out whenever you're first installing it. Now it doesn't come with any mounting hardware you do have to provide that on your own, but it comes with everything else you need to get it installed as far as putting it together. As promised, let's talk about measurements now.

So a bunch of different sizes available. You can find all of those here at etrailer.com. Those are all the part numbers. So you can get either the three-step, four or five, six or seven, so really can get to whatever height that you might need. And those measurements are there. So the handles up here are about 24 inches tall above the surface of the dock. The distance from the dock to that first step is about 10 inches, but then the rise between the steps themselves is about 11 and three quarters. So if we go from the dock surface to the top of the bottom most step that's where I'm getting all of those different measurements for the height. So for our three-step here, that is 33 and a half inches. If we had another step, it would be 45 and a quarter and so on. Just adding that 11 and three quarters to each of those, to give us those different lengths. As far as the total depth, going from the front of the step to the back of where it mounts, that's 14 inches, it's about eight inches if you go from the back of the mounting flange to about here, where it would be flush against that dock surface. The outer width, so for this most edge to either side, that is 21 inches, the steps themselves are four inches deep. All in all I think that this is a really nice choice. Again, it makes it really easy for you to get in and out of the water. You got some tables here to kind of keep that step from floating off if you happen to kind of misalign it and you don't get it in there. The tabs also will help with that as well. And so this is anodized aluminum. Again, you can use this for just about any kind of application you might have whether it's fresh water, salt water, by being able to bring the steps out also makes it nice that they're not going to get gunked up with any kind of seaweed or bracken or barnacles or anything else that might occur over time. So that's pretty much it for our quick look at the Jif floating dock Marine ladder. I hope this helped in deciding if this is the right choice for you. We do have some other styles available here at etrailer.com. So be sure to check them out. Thanks for watching.
